Welcome!

Greetings! My name is Richard Button and this is a new blog feeding on almost 20 years of database experience and focusing primarily on database technology, best practices, products, applied techniques, challenges, problems, and training.  Basically...Everything SQL.

Products include, but are not limited to SQL Server (MSSQL), MS Access, T-SQL Querying, SQL Integration Services (SSIS), DTS (Data Transformation Services), and SQL Reporting Services (SSRS), SQL Analysis Services (SSAS/OLAP).

Topics are intended to range from simple database topics to advanced techniques and best practices.  Topics are meant to be "real world' applications of database administration, database development, business intelligence development, enterprise architecture, data warehouse design and implementation, support, break-fix, and so on.

My background covers all these areas from large companies like Sony, Honeywell Bull, Chicos to small companies like Miva, Findwhat.com, small real estate offices and medical offices, and individuals just wanting to learn a little database speak or building web or client based applications that are wired to an information store (database, spreadsheet, xml, file, or other repository).  I also have experience writing over 5000 technical articles, leading enterprise technical writing teams, architecting, developing, and deploying enterprise web applications, designing and integrating disparate information systems, building search and chat applications, and leading Six Sigma business process improvement projects.  All of these area's are fair game as one way or another, they can be tied to an information store - like a database.

Please provide as much feedback as you'd like.  My goal is to help people through me experience and conversations with colleagues and fellow bloggers!  This is my motivation and I hope you enjoy your visit.  Thank you!

Rich
